So as to allow the student participants an opportunity to learn as much as possible during the time allotted, a two primary computer and internet-based activities are used throughout the course of the camp.
- Internet Scavenger Hunts - Students are given assignments to "find"
various web sites that pertain to either their cultural heritage or
law enforcement, with points given for the most informative, best designed,
and greatest number found. Some of the "hunts" involve:
- Number of law enforcement-related web sites in Rhode Island
- Law enforcement site with most web awards in Rhode Island
- Most number of web sites with information on Black History
- Most number of web sites with information on Latino History
- Sites which provide on-line complaints on law enforcement misconduct
- Student Web Site Design - The
major activity of the camp allows the students to design their own 3
page web sites, which are then posted to an IP address and promoted
the same as a commercial web design venture
